Lucy Tongue Level, Greenside Mine, Glenridding – Sunday 20thJanuary 2019

Meet Leader: Warren Allison.  Meet at Glenridding Car Park (Pay & Display or find free parking along the road side) at 9.30am. Grade Easy. This meet is primarily designed for members who have not previously been in The Lucy Tongue Level. The level is almost 1 mile long and whilst flat and unobstructed, some sections requiring stooping and a few inches of water in places. Meet Capacity is 12 persons. Meet LeaderPhone: 01228 523923 Email: warrenallison82@gmail.com

Meet grade is “Easy” as no technical requirements.  However there is a slightly awkward entrance (down a large diameter concrete pipe), the level is wet in places (usually less than welly depth) and this is an underground walk of almost 2 miles in total.

MEET AT 9.30am at the road side car parking in Glenridding (just beyond the entrance to the main car park).  We will then car share from there up to the mine entrance, to start there at 10am.  Please check the weather forecast and Road Conditions before setting out.

Note – mine exploration is a high-risk sport and it is not possible to reduce all risks to a low level. CATMHS (a CIO) seek to support exploration in a safe manner while recognising that significant risks will remain and the safety of the activity will ultimately depend on the ability of the group and participants to take sensible actions to ensure exploration is conducted with a reasonable margin of safety. However accidents and incidents can happen and everyone taking part in this event do so at their own risk.
