Meet Leaders: Nick Green & Martyn Langley. Further exploration of the Nenthead Mining Complex. This huge area of lead mine workings are in the Pennines near Alston. The meet details can be adapted to suit the tastes and experience of those attending. So if you would like to visit these mines just let us know what you fancy seeing / doing and the trip itinerary and meet grade can be adapted accordingly. Meet capacity is 12 persons. Quite likely that we will run two routes that day. One “Easy”, suitable for people with less experience underground and One “Difficult” suitable for those who prefer their mines a bit wetter, tighter and more vertical. Note – mine exploration is a high-risk sport and it is not possible to reduce all risks to a low level. CATMHS seek to support exploration in a safe manner while recognising that significant risks will remain and the safety of the activity will ultimately depend on the ability of the group and participants to take sensible actions to ensure exploration is conducted with a reasonable margin of safety. However accidents and incidents can happen and everyone taking part in this event do so at their own risk.
