Coniston Coppermines Hut
Jonathan Lynch and Dominic Wheeler Dominic have been busy in Coniston for a while, having a whale of a time exploring new areas and sussing out new routes. In order to allow them even more time up they have booked the whole coppermines mountain hut run by the Barrow Mountaineering and Ski club (located right next to the Youth Hostel) from the 28th October to the 1st of November – a Wednesday night to Sunday morning. They are going to be there for the duration, as they have plenty to do however, they would like to open the Hut availability up to other CATMHS members as well, who might would want to independently explore the Coniston Coppermine valley area.

We are not making this an official meet and Dominic and Jonathan will only be sharing what they have been up to with a few experienced and capable people that they invite for their full-on SRT exploration. However, it’s a good opportunity for those who want to make use of the facilities and to be in the area. There are 14 beds in the bunkhouse. If people want to stay over they would need their own pillow and sleeping bags, plus own food if they are planning on cooking – or there are the local pubs down the road. Cleaning utensils for kitchen clear up are not provided so that would need to be brought along to.

Cost is £20 per person per night. These are the mountaineering club prices. This can be paid to Jonathan Lynch in cash during the stay or he can provide bank details for a transfer. Details for the clubhouse can be found on their web site here if you want to take a look: https://bmasc.org.uk/cottage/.

If anyone wishes to make use of the opportunity contact Jonathan for bunk room availability. He will keep an eye on numbers to ensure there is room available, so it would be best to contact him at his email address: jonnylynch1970@gmail.com or phone 07795 994485.
