A meet to the famous flats at this large lead and zinc mine, so much to see of these very impressive workings….
The trip will take us on an underground circular route of this Nenthead mine walking through multiple flats with some very short sections of restricted roof height and very short fixed ladders. There are some short sections of shallow water however the majority of it will be extremely dry with a constant temperature of around 8 degrees.
It is an ideal trip to attend as a new member or if you are keen on a relatively easy but rewarding day out. There will be a half way break included (bring your sandwiches) and you should expect to be underground for around 4-5 hours.
We will have access to toilets, changing facilities and will arrange hot drinks afterwards as well.
It is imperative you have the following kit when attending this trip:
Mandatory:
Helmet complete with chin strap
Head torch capable of providing at least 8 hours of light
Warm clothing including a boiler suit or under suit and over suit
